Bedford Community Table Tennis Club was set up after the 'Get Back Into' January 2010 programme at Beauchamp Middle School. Bedford. The Club then moved to St Thomas More Upper School for the 2010/11 table tennis season, as the club wished to compete in the Bedford & District Table Tennis League and a larger venue was needed. Church Lane Community Centre kindly provided financial support to buy some new competition tables and the club moved to Church Lane in May 2011. With the move came a name change to Church Lane Community Club to help with the aim of growing our membership by connecting with the local residents. In 2012, things went so well that the club expanded from running one session on a Thursday to three sessions at Church Lane. The club is open every week apart from Bank Holidays, and has a number of teams entered into the Bedford & District Table Tennis League. In June 2013, the club reverted to it's original name, as a new session at Bedford Academy began.
History of BCTTC
Church Lane CTTC has kept it's own identity, but is now managed in partnership under the name of Bedford Community Table Tennis Club (BCTTC). BCTTC's home is the smart Bedford Academy sports centre in Mile Road, Bedford. A single membership system covers both venues (i.e. Members have access to the facilities at both Bedford Academy and Church Lane). In September 2014, BCTTC became a Table Tennis England Premier Club. For more info about Premier Clubs, please click here In September 2015 the club acquired the status of Community Amateur Sports Club, which qualifies the club for Gift Aid (but does not include subscriptions or playing fees).
